Giles Watling, the Clacton & Frinton MP who is also well-known for his starring role in 80s hit TV series “Bread”, joined Churchill Retirement Living on Friday 22nd November to officially open its new Cooper Lodge retirement development in Frinton-On-Sea.
Locals visited the Lodge on Pole Barn Lane to see Mr Watling take part in an official ribbon cutting ceremony with Churchill’s Regional Managing Director, Alan Perry, along with new apartment Owners and Lodge Manager Clare Douglas.
Visitors to the event were also given the opportunity to view the development’s beautiful Show Complex, before being treated to a glass of fizz and canapés in the Owners’ Lounge.
Giles Watling MP said: “I was pleased to be asked to open the new Cooper Lodge development in my constituency, and it was an honour to cut the ribbon. Retirement properties are a crucial part of meeting the UK’s housing challenge and Churchill’s new development is a significant addition to the housing provision here in Frinton-on-Sea.
Specialist retirement housing is proven to have a beneficial effect on older people’s health and wellbeing, be it from in a modern, warm, well insulated home to having a sense of community and helping to beat loneliness. It was also heartening to meet the new Owners now calling Cooper Lodge home and hear so many positive stories from them.
Churchill’s new Cooper Lodge development comprises 40 privately owned, self-contained apartments specially designed for the over 60s. Offering quality retirement accommodation and safe and independent living, the development is in a convenient location close to local shops and amenities.
Apartments boast spacious rooms throughout and an ideal combination of design and functionality. The fully fitted, stylish kitchens include a built in fridge and freezer, hob and an oven, which is located at an easy-reach height. Owners also enjoy ultimate peace of mind from a fitted camera entry system and a 24 hour emergency call system.
