Deputy Mayor cuts the ribbon at new Andover retirement development

Deputy Mayor Councillor Carl Borg-Neal joined Churchill Retirement Living to officially open a stunning new roof terrace at its Chantry Lodge development in Andover.

More than 60 people visited the Lodge on Chantry Street to see Councillor Borg-Neal take part in an official ribbon cutting ceremony with Churchill’s regional managing director James Barnes and regional sales director Sam Burley.

The new development comprises 64 one and two-bedroom private, self-contained apartments specially designed for the over 60s. Visitors to the event were given the opportunity to view the new sales centre and show apartment, before being treated to sparkling wine and canapes on the roof terrace, which offers views over the town centre.

Deputy Mayor Councillor Carl Borg-Neal said: “It was a privilege to be invited to open the new roof terrace at Chantry Lodge and an honour to cut the ribbon. Retirement properties are a crucial part of helping to unblock the UK’s housing crisis and Churchill’s new development is a significant addition to the housing provision in Andover.

“Specialist retirement housing is proven to have a beneficial effect on older people’s health and wellbeing, be it from being in a modern, warm, well insulated home to having a sense of community and helps to beat loneliness. The terrace is a superb facility that I’m sure the Owners living at the Lodge will no doubt be spending many hours enjoying.”

Deborah Waldeck, regional marketing executive at Churchill Retirement Living, said: “We were thrilled that Councillor Carl Borg-Neal was able to join us to officially open the new roof terrace. The Lodge has already been very well received in the town with 30% of the apartments already reserved, and the terrace is an excellent addition to the facilities on offer here. It is a wonderful place for our Owners to relax or enjoy a catch-up with their neighbours.”
