Raymond & Lorraine swap Honiton for Sidford and choose Churchill again!

In 2016 Raymond Tougher and his wife Lorraine moved into a new Churchill apartment at Holyshute Lodge in Honiton. It was a new experience for them but turned out to be a turning point in their lives and they fell in love with the Churchill lifestyle, so much so that six years later they decided to follow this lifestyle to a brand new Churchill development closer to the sea in Sidford!

“When we moved to our Churchill apartment the burden of house maintenance costs, gardening chores and provision of personal support were lifted from our shoulders and suddenly we were able to live life to the full,” says Raymond.

“We were particularly able to pursue our passion for travelling and walking, knowing that our home would be safe and secure in our absence. We were also able to take advantage of being able to stay at any of the many Churchill developments nationwide.

“The personal support was particularly excellent during the Covid lockdown. Not one person at our Lodge caught the virus and a network of helpers came together to help with shopping etc. We never felt alone and the Owners became a tight, friendly community.

“In 2020 we saw the development of a new Churchill Lodge in Sidford and thought we would like to live there. It was close to the sea with good public transport and was constructed to the latest cost saving standards including economic ground source heating and superfast broadband connection.

“Churchill handled the sale of our Honiton home and the purchase of our new Lockyer Lodge apartment, paying for solicitors’ fees, stamp duty and removal costs, and an additional reduction in the purchase price. They even came and picked us up on the day of moving.

Lockyer Lodge provides the usual high standard of support that we’ve become used to with Churchill, including many daily activities to enjoy such as coffee mornings, short mat bowls, bridge, bingo, computer and mobile phone lessons, and even horse racing. The many get-togethers made it easy to make friends and settle in.

“We moved in December 2022 and are very happy here, with the sea air helping Lorraine with her asthma. The future looks bright and worry free, we would recommend Churchill to anyone who is looking to make a move and enjoy their retirement to the full.”
