Michael Gove MP helps Bagshot retirees plant a tree for the Queen’s Jubilee

People at Churchill Retirement Living’s Wessex Lodge development in Bagshot came together recently to plant a tree in celebration of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, with the help of special guest and local MP the Rt Hon Michael Gove.

On Friday 10th June apartment Owners and Colleagues planted a Bird Cherry sapling in the development’s communal gardens, as part of the “Queen’s Green Canopy” initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee. With a focus on planting sustainably, the initiative encourages tree planting to create a legacy in honour of The Queen’s leadership of the Nation, which will benefit future generations.

Michael Gove MP said: “It was an absolute pleasure visiting Wessex Lodge in Bagshot and seeing how happy the residents are in their retirement. It was also a delight to join the retirees in planting a tree in celebration of Her Majesty The Queen and her Platinum Jubilee, a truly wonderful occasion.”

Jacqui Cheney, Regional Sales & Marketing Director for Churchill Retirement Living, said: “It was great to welcome everyone to this special event to round off the Platinum Jubilee celebrations at Wessex Lodge, and we’d like to say a big thank you to our local MP Michael Gove for making time in his busy schedule to take part. We hope he enjoyed a taste of the lifestyle, friendship and sense of community on offer here.”

Churchill has planted over 50 trees at its retirement developments and offices across the country this spring as part of the “Queen’s Green Canopy” initiative, helping to highlight the value of trees and woodlands as nature’s way to clean the air we breathe, slow the impact of climate change, create important wildlife habitats and improve our general health and wellbeing.
