Apartment Owners at Churchill Retirement Living<\/a>\u2019s Riverain Lodge in Taunton<\/a> held a special event on Friday 11th<\/sup> August to welcome new members of the community and try their hand at an unusual throwing game called \u201cKubb\u201d on the communal lawn.<\/p>

Kubb is a simple Swedish game with characteristics similar to bowls or p\u00e9tanque. Its name stems from the term \u201cvedkubbar\u201d which means \u201cwooden block\u201d in the Gotland dialect of Swedish. Kubb is played between two teams, with the aim of knocking over all the kubbs, and then the king, with throwing sticks before the opposing team does.<\/p>

Everyone enjoyed getting together in the sunshine to give the game a try and get to know their new neighbours.<\/p>
