When local retiree Sylvia Bunker decided on a move to Berkhamsted, she needed a place where her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel would feel at home too. Luckily Churchill Retirement Living\u2019s new Sheldon Lodge development welcomes pets, so Sylvia and Milly have both been settling in nicely at their brand new apartment right in the heart of town.<\/p>

I moved here from Bricket Wood as I wanted to be in a nice town centre with better transport links and a bit more social life. I fell in love with Berkhamsted, and although I was initially unsure about buying a retirement apartment, I visited Sheldon Lodge a few times and decided it would be just right for me. I lost my husband six years ago, so having been on my own it\u2019s nice to have new friends and a sociable lifestyle around me, and I love my new apartment.<\/p><\/blockquote>

Moving to Sheldon Lodge also enabled Sylvia\u2019s granddaughter to get on the property ladder, as she and her fianc\u00e9e were able to buy Sylvia\u2019s old bungalow. She adds: \u201cThey were living with me for a while, and now I\u2019ve moved here they\u2019ve got their own place. We shared two King Charles Spaniels so I left one with them and brought Milly with me. It\u2019s all worked out brilliantly, and they\u2019re also getting married later this year!\u201d<\/p>

So what does Milly make of apartment life? \u201cShe\u2019s been adjusting very well,\u201d says Sylvia. \u201cShe gets me up bright and early to go for a walk every day, and we\u2019ve both enjoyed getting to know the other Owners. They love to make a fuss of her when they see her.\u201d<\/p>

Sheldon Lodge is a collection of 48 one and two bedroom privately owned retirement apartments and shared facilities, designed exclusively for the over 60s.  The show complex is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm.
