Local MP Derek Thomas joined Churchill Retirement Living on Friday 1st<\/sup> March to officially open its Mount\u2019s Bay Lodge development in Penzance.<\/p>

Locals visited the Lodge on New Town Lane in the heart of Penzance to see Mr Thomas and the Mayor take part in an official ribbon cutting ceremony with Churchill\u2019s Regional Managing Director, James Barnes.<\/p>

Visitors to the event were also given the opportunity to view the development\u2019s beautiful Show Complex, before being treated to a glass of fizz and canap\u00e9s in the Owners\u2019 Lounge. <\/p>

Derek Thomas MP said:<\/p>

I was pleased to be asked to open the new Mount\u2019s Bay Lodge development in my constituency, and it was an honour to cut the ribbon. Retirement properties are a crucial part of meeting the UK\u2019s housing challenge and Churchill\u2019s new development is a significant addition to the housing provision here in Penzance. <\/p>

Specialist retirement housing is proven to have a beneficial effect on older people\u2019s health and wellbeing, be it from being in a modern, warm, well insulated home to having a sense of community which helps to beat loneliness.
