A group of retirees living at Churchill Retirement Living\u2019s Amelia Lodge in Henleaze<\/strong><\/a> have been enjoying the many health and fitness benefits of Tai Chi through regular classes in the Owners\u2019 Lounge.<\/p>

The classes were orchestrated by Lodge Manager Alison Speechly to give the Owners an opportunity to keep fit and have fun.<\/p>

Alison explains: \u201cOur Owners are always keen participants in activities that keep them busy and help with fitness and I thought that Tai Chi was something everyone could get involved with. It\u2019s drawn quite the following so now every Monday we have a regular group that gathers in the Owners\u2019 Lounge, or across the road in the park, to enjoy a low impact workout.\u201d<\/p>

Owner Jean Marwick, who lives at Amelia Lodge, says:<\/p>

Tai Chi is an ideal exercise for older people. There is nothing strenuous, just gentle exercises which we all agree is good for keeping fit. We all enjoy the friendship that the class brings too.<\/p><\/blockquote>

Her neighbour Gillian Harvey agrees, adding: \u201cI like to keep active and healthy and Tai Chi is so beneficial for both mind and body! I\u2019ve found it has improved my balance, helped me feel fitter and more relaxed, and it\u2019s also a great way for us all to socialise as a group.\u201d<\/p>

Another Amelia Lodge Owner Angela Hemingway adds: \u201cIt\u2019s a really good session and a great way to enjoy some gentle exercise, which is such an important thing to do as you get older. We\u2019ve certainly been feeling the benefits!\u201d<\/p>

Located on Henleaze Terrace, Amelia Lodge is a collection of 33 one and two bedroom privately owned retirement apartments and shared facilities, designed exclusively for the over 60s. Apartments boast spacious rooms throughout and an ideal combination of design and functionality. Owners also enjoy ultimate peace of mind from a fitted camera entry system for the highest level of security and a 24 hour emergency call system.<\/p>

A Lodge Manager employed by Churchill\u2019s own management company \u2013 Millstream Management Services \u2013 oversees the day-to-day running of the development, offering a friendly face to turn to, and taking care of all the upkeep and maintenance so that Owners don\u2019t have to. With less to worry about, Owners have more time to do the things they enjoy, such as having family or friends to stay in the development\u2019s well-appointed Guest Suite, having a chat with neighbours, or attending one of the regular social events in the Owners\u2019 Lounge.<\/p>
