Children from Canterbury Road Primary School welcomed the construction team from Churchill Retirement Living\u2019s Beatrice Lodge<\/a> into their school for a special site safety assembly.<\/p>

Site Manager Nick Hillier visited the school to teach pupils all about safety on building sites, as well as giving them an insight into the day-to-day activities on-site, and into how they build retirement apartments.<\/p>

Zoe King, Head Teacher at Canterbury Road Primary School, said: \u201cWe are extremely grateful to Churchill Retirement Living for visiting the school to give a talk during assembly time \u2013 it was a great opportunity for the children to discover what workers do on site each day and to ask the Site Manager lots of questions.\u201d<\/p>

Nick Hillier, Site Manager at Churchill Retirement Living\u2019s Beatrice Lodge, said:<\/p>

It\u2019s so important for children to understand the dangers of playing on building sites, especially when one is in close proximity to their school, so we were pleased that the school were happy for us to pay them a visit. It was wonderful to see how enthusiastic they were listening and learning about how we build the retirement Lodges and all the great questions I was asked at the end. I hope it inspires some of the children to consider a career in construction too!<\/p><\/blockquote>

Beatrice Lodge, on Canterbury Road, will comprise 45 one and two bedroom private, self-contained apartments that are specially-designed for the over 60s, with features such as a video-entry system, lifts to all floors, a 24-hout care a support system, and a Lodge Manager.<\/p>

The town is an ideal location for a variety of leisure pursuits, with the local train station offering journeys to London Victoria and London St Pancras in just over an hour, and to the seaside town of Margate in around 45 minutes.<\/p>

The high street offers a selection of both national and local retailers and is less than half a mile away from the development. There are several restaurants, cafes and tea rooms scattered across the town and all are within easy walking distance.<\/p>

The town has a lot of leisure facilities including the light railway and Avenue Theatre, which offers musicals and films throughout the year. The nearby Cromer's Wood Nature Reserve is home to various birds and wildflowers, making it a popular scenic location in Sittingbourne.<\/p>
