The Right Honourable Lord Mayor of Bristol Councillor Lesley Alexander visited Churchill Retirement Living\u2019s highly-anticipated new retirement development in Fishponds<\/a>, which is currently under construction.<\/p>

Councillor Alexander visited the development on Staple Hill Road to meet the construction team and was also given an exclusive tour of the site. Once complete, the new development will comprise 41 privately owned, self-contained apartments that are specially designed for the over 60s with features such as a video-entry system, lift to all floors, a 24 hour care and support system, and a Lodge Manager. Communal facilities include an Owners\u2019 Lounge, Guest Suite and landscaped gardens.<\/p>

Sam Clarke, contracts manager at Churchill Retirement Living, showed Councillor Alexander around the site. He said:<\/p>

We were delighted that Lord Mayor was able to join us to see the progress we\u2019re making on the new site. Churchill\u2019s properties offer security, peace of mind and independent living for our Owners, along with community and support and have already attracted plenty of interest from retirees in the town. Being in a manageable home with low maintenance can offer a new lease of life for people \u2013 ensuring they are close to amenities, and surrounded by a new community. We are delighted to be bringing our new development to Fishponds and have already seen lots of interest from local over 60s keen to find out more about the benefits of retirement living.<\/p><\/blockquote>

I was grateful to Churchill Retirement Living for inviting me to the development for a tour, it was great to meet the team on-site. The development of new retirement properties is a significant addition to the housing provision here in Fishponds. Specialist retirement housing is proven to have a very real, beneficial effect on older people\u2019s health and wellbeing, be it from being in a modern, warm, well insulated home to having a sense of community and alleviating loneliness.<\/p><\/blockquote>
