A group of retirees living at Churchill Retirement Living\u2019s Simmonds Lodge in Drayton<\/strong> <\/a>have set up their very own chairobics exercise classes to keep them fighting fit in later life.<\/p>

Owners Ruth Prior and Janet Lance came up with the idea to host a chairobics session after attending similar classes on cruise holidays. The enthusiastic fitness duo decided to sign up their friends and fellow Owners at the Lodge on Havant Road, and it was such a success that they now run a weekly class every Monday morning.<\/p>

Mrs Prior said: \u201cI like to keep active and healthy, so Janet and I decided that the Owners\u2019 Lounge at Simmonds Lodge would be the ideal venue to host a weekly chairobics class. We set it up with the help of the Lodge Manager, Tracy, and it\u2019s taken the Lodge by storm.  We have 12 regular attendees now who all enjoy getting stuck in.<\/p>

\u201cIt\u2019s a fun hour session where we do sit down exercises to music, which includes a lot of stretching and low impact aerobics moves. It\u2019s a really important thing to do as you get older even if you are fit, healthy and active, and we\u2019ve certainly been feeling the benefits already!\u201d<\/p>

Deborah Waldeck, regional marketing executive at Churchill Retirement Living, said: \u201cOur Lodge Managers work really hard to arrange an assortment of events to take place in the Owners\u2019 Lounge at the Lodge, and it\u2019s fantastic to see Owners organising their own events too. Not only is this a great example of the lifestyle on offer at our Lodges, but it\u2019s also excellent to see our Owners showing the importance of keeping active in later life.\u201d<\/p>

Simmonds Lodge on Havant Road comprises 51 one and two-bedroom purpose-built retirement apartments exclusively for the Over 60s. All of the apartments at Simmonds Lodge have spacious rooms throughout and are an ideal combination of design and functionality. The fully fitted, stylish kitchens include a built in fridge and freezer, hob and an oven, which is located at an easy-reach height. Communal facilities include an Owners\u2019 Lounge which owners use for socialising and events, communal landscaped gardens, Guest Suite, Wellbeing Suite providing health and beauty treatments and a Fitness Suite. It also has its own on-site coffee bar where owners can enjoy a drink and mingle with their neighbours. The Lodge is also just a short distance from public transport links, shops and all the local amenities on offer in Drayton.<\/p>
