Children from Hamsey Green Primary School in Warlingham visited Churchill Retirement Living\u2019s Greenacres Lodge<\/strong><\/a> to take part in this year\u2019s RSPB Big Birdwatch.<\/p>

Pupils joined forces with retired Owners from the Lodge to turn their eyes to the skies and see what feathered friends visit the development\u2019s landscaped garden. The children learnt how to provide food and shelter for wild birds, as well as how to encourage wildlife into the newly planted garden at the lodge.<\/p>

The visit was organised by Churchill Retirement Living to coincide with the RSPB\u2019s Big Birdwatch event, which takes place from 28-30 January. The annual survey aims to provide a vital snapshot of the country\u2019s nature by asking members of the public to record the different bird species visiting their gardens and local green spaces, and most importantly, discover if any in particular are thriving or declining in numbers.<\/p>

\"BigAnne Scherrer, Regional Marketing Manager at Churchill Retirement Living, said: \u201cIt is always wonderful to see the generations come together and we are pleased to have built a nice community link with Hamsey Green Primary School. The children were absolutely fantastic and were treated to a special talk by our resident gardener too. We hope that learning more about wild birds will inspire them to go out and find out what wildlife they have nesting in their own back gardens.\u201d<\/p>

Lisa Kirk, Inclusion Leader at Hamsey Green Primary School, said: \u201cWe were grateful to Churchill Retirement Living for organising the visit, it was a wonderful opportunity for the children to work with the local community.\u201d<\/p>
