Dame Esther Rantzen DBE will lead the celebrations for the eagerly anticipated Churchill Awards<\/strong><\/a> 2017, to honour the continuing achievements of the over 65s across all aspects of society. The winners will be announced at a star-studded event at the Mandarin Oriental, London on Tuesday 14th<\/sup> March 2017.<\/p>

Now in their 5th<\/sup> year, The Churchill Awards have quickly become established as the UK\u2019s premier event to recognise and highlight the significant role that over 65s play in all walks of British life.<\/p>

Previous winners include Sir Roger Moore KBE, Len Goodman, Dame Judi Dench DBE and the late Linda Bellingham OBE. But it\u2019s not just celebrities from the world of TV and film who are nominated, with a variety of categories including politics, business, charity, sport and literature. There is even a special \u2018Local Hero\u2019 award to honour Churchill Owners who are particularly active in their communities.<\/p>

Dame Esther Rantzen DBE, Churchill Ambassador, said:<\/p>

\u201cThe remarkable men and women shortlisted for these awards are all leaders in their field, and during 2016 they made a huge contribution towards the health, happiness and welfare of millions of people across the UK. The continued achievements of the over 65s should not come as a surprise; they are rarely celebrated in this way. So the Churchill Awards are a great opportunity to showcase these wonderful role models.\u201d<\/p>

Spencer McCarthy, Chairman and CEO of Churchill Retirement Living, and the driving force behind the awards, adds:<\/p>
