Local resident Chris Binton, 46, site manager for Churchill Retirement Living, was awarded a top accolade in the National House Building Council\u2019s \u2018Pride in the Job\u2019 gala on Friday\u00a0January 17.<\/p>\n
Chris was one of five site managers out of 15,000 to scoop the UK\u2019s \u2018Supreme Site Managers of the Year\u2019.<\/p>\n
Comedian Al Murray a.k.a. \u2018The Pub Landlord\u2019 presented Chris with his award at the black-tie event in London.<\/p>\n
Chris started work in the building industry 29 years ago as a labourer and bricklayer and he has worked for Churchill Retirement Living since the company\u2019s set up 20 years ago, initially as a labourer and then later as a Site Manager. He has been an integral part of the company and this award win is the first of the company\u2019s 20th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary celebrations.<\/p>\n He was\u00a0rewarded for achieving the highest standards in all aspects of house-building, taking pride in everything from the well being of his team to the satisfaction of new homeowners as well as quality craftsmanship, judged at every build stage. Chris said: \u201cI get great job satisfaction on producing high quality developments. This award shows that myself and my team work to very high standards.\u201d<\/p>\n Spencer McCarthy, Chairman and Group Managing Director of Churchill Retirement Living, explains why the Pride in the Job awards are so important. He said: \u201cThis is a fantastic accolade for Chris and we are very proud of him. Throughout his time with Churchill Retirement Living he has developed into an exceptional site manager and mentor to his team members who continually create fantastic living environments for our customers, providing peace of mind.\u201d<\/p>\n Mike Quinton, National House Building Council\u2019s chief executive, congratulated Chris on his win. He said: \u201cChris should be incredibly proud of his achievement which puts him in the top fraction of one percent of his profession.
